The Power to Stand When You Cannot Move Forward Yet

Scripture: Ephesians 6:13 (KJV)“Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”

Good morning and welcome to Monday Morning Devotional.

There are times in life when we want God to move quickly. We want Him to open the door, change the situation, answer the prayer, and make the way clear. But there are seasons when we have prayed, we have cried, we have done our best, and still find ourselves waiting.

In those moments, God may not be telling you to run ahead. He may be giving you the power to stand.

Paul said, “Having done all, to stand.” That means after you have prayed, after you have trusted, after you have put on the armor of God, after you have given the situation to the Lord—stand.

Standing does not mean you are weak. Standing does not mean you have given up. Standing means you have made up your mind that you will not lose your faith while you wait to see what God is going to do.

Somebody may be standing in the middle of a difficult decision. You may be standing in a hard season financially, emotionally, physically, or spiritually. You may be standing after disappointment, after a door closed, or after people did not show up the way you hoped they would.

But I came to remind you that you do not have to fight every battle in your own strength.

God’s power is working in you even when you feel tired. His grace is carrying you even when you feel like you have nothing left. Sometimes the greatest display of faith is not shouting, running, or doing more. Sometimes it is simply saying, “Lord, I still trust You. I will stand on Your Word until You show me what is next.”

The enemy would like for you to panic, retreat, give up, or make a decision out of fear. But God is calling you to stand firm. Do not abandon the position God gave you just because the battle became uncomfortable.

Remember: the battle may be bigger than you, but it is not bigger than your God.

So today, take a breath. Re-center yourself in the presence of God. Put on the whole armor of God. And when you have done all you know to do—stand.

Your strength may feel low, but God’s power has not run out. Your answers may not have come yet, but God is still working. Your season may be challenging, but you are still standing—and that is proof that God has been holding you up.

Closing Prayer

Father, thank You for the power to stand. When we feel weak, remind us that Your grace is sufficient and Your strength is made perfect in weakness. Help us not to move out of fear, frustration, or impatience. Give us peace while we wait, courage while we stand, and faith to trust that You are working all things together for our good. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
