“Stepping Into the New Year — More of God”

Scripture Focus — James 4:8

“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.”

As we step into this new year, many people are trying to carry more goals, more plans, more responsibilities, and more pressure into their lives. But this year, God is not calling us to carry more weight — He is calling us to pursue more of Him.

More of His presence. More of His wisdom. More of His peace. More of His voice in our daily lives.

There are some seasons where God does not increase our schedule — He deepens our spiritual foundation. The new year is not just about starting fresh; it is about aligning our hearts so that what we build is sustained by His strength and not our own.

Some of us are walking into this year with questions…Some with hope…Some still healing from the last season…

But God gently reminds us:

➡️ You do not enter this year alone.

➡️ You are not beginning from empty — you are beginning from grace.

➡️ You are not behind — you are right where God can meet you.

This year may not require you to do more —It may require you to become more:

More rooted in prayer More anchored in faith More intentional in obedience More tender in love toward others

And sometimes, “more” begins quietly.

In stillness. In reflection. In a whisper from God that says…

“Come closer before you go further.”

As we enter this year, may we not just seek new things, but seek a new level of closeness with God — because everything we need flows from His presence.

1. What area of my life is God calling me to draw closer in — prayer, trust, obedience, or rest?

2. What am I leaving behind so I can carry more of God into this year?

3. Where do I need to slow down and invite God into my plans?

Prayer

Father, as I step into this new year, draw my heart closer to You. Give me more faith, more peace, more clarity, and more love. Help me to leave behind what no longer serves my growth, and walk into this season with trust, alignment, and surrender. More of You, and less of me — in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Today I declare that as I enter this new year, I will not chase more pressure, more tasks, or more noise —I will pursue MORE of God.

I declare:

More love🎯

More alignment🔥

More obedience🌿

More peace in my spirit

I leave behind old cycles, fear, comparison, and doubt, and I step into this year with hope, clarity, and purpose.

This year, I will not be driven by busyness —I will be guided by God’s presence.

I am becoming stronger, wiser, grounded, and renewed.

More of Him — and less of me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
