Stay Planted Until God Says Move

Monday Morning Devotional

7/27/26

Scripture:

"He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper." — Psalm 1:3 (NKJV)

One of the greatest challenges in our walk with God is resisting the urge to move before He says move.

When life feels slow, when opportunities seem delayed, or when others appear to be advancing ahead of us, it's easy to assume that changing locations, changing jobs, changing churches, or changing direction is the answer. Yet many times, the answer isn't movement—it's remaining planted.

A tree doesn't produce fruit because it is constantly being transplanted. It bears fruit because its roots have grown deep enough to draw strength from its source.

The same is true for us.

God often develops stability before He brings visibility. He strengthens our character before He expands our influence. The seasons that seem quiet are often the seasons when our roots are growing the deepest.

Being planted doesn't mean you are stuck. It means you are positioned. It means you trust that God knows the right time to open doors, bring increase, and lead you into your next season.

When the time is right, God knows how to move you. Until then, bloom where He has planted you, remain faithful in what He has entrusted to you, and allow your roots to grow deeper in Him.

Reflection:

Am I remaining faithful where God has planted me, or have I become restless because I haven't yet seen the fruit?

Prayer:

Father, thank You for every season You have ordained for my life. Help me to remain planted where You have placed me until You clearly direct my next step. Deepen my roots in Your Word, strengthen my faith, and teach me to trust Your timing. May my life bear fruit that brings glory to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
