Perception vs. Truth

Part 2: Misjudged but Still Chosen

“For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” – 1 Samuel 16:7 (NKJV)

Being misjudged is painful, especially when others insist on pushing a false narrative about who you are. But take heart—God sees beyond perception. He knows your heart, your motives, and your obedience. While people may misunderstand you, the Lord defends and validates you.

David was overlooked by his own family, yet chosen by God. Joseph was falsely accused, yet promoted in due time. Jesus Himself was misjudged and rejected, yet He fulfilled His purpose. In the same way, your value and calling are not diminished by someone else’s wrong perception.

Isaiah 54:17 reminds us, “No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn.” Wrong words and false narratives cannot cancel God’s plan for your life.

Instead of shrinking back, continue walking in integrity. Trust God to deal with hearts blinded by pride or pain. And remember: the One who called you knows the truth.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for being the God who sees me clearly, even when others misjudge me. Guard my heart from bitterness, and help me to walk in humility and love, even when I’m misunderstood. Remind me that I am chosen, called, and secure in You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
