Can God Trust You With Someone’s Heart?

Scripture: “A gossip goes around revealing a secret, but a trustworthy person keeps a confidence.” — Proverbs 11:13 (CSB)

One of the greatest gifts someone can give you is their trust.

There will be moments when people share the deepest places of their lives—their hurts, disappointments, fears, failures, and even their victories. They are not looking for an audience; they are looking for a safe place.

As believers, we must ask ourselves an important question: Can God trust me with someone else’s heart?

In a world where everything becomes content, where private conversations can become public posts, sermon illustrations, reels, podcasts, or subtle references, followers of Christ are called to a higher standard. We are called to be trustworthy.

This doesn’t mean we never teach from life’s experiences. God often uses testimonies to encourage others. But there is a difference between a testimony that honors God and a story that exposes someone who trusted you. Wisdom knows the difference.

Jesus consistently demonstrated compassion. He restored people without humiliating them. While He addressed sin, His purpose was always redemption, not public embarrassment. He covered people with grace while leading them to truth.

Every conversation entrusted to us is an opportunity to reflect the character of Christ. Sometimes the most spiritual thing we can do is remain silent, pray faithfully, and protect what has been placed in our care.

Today, ask yourself:

* Can people trust me with their story?

* Do my words heal, or do they expose?

* Am I building trust or seeking attention?

* Would God entrust me with someone’s heart again?

As we begin this week, let’s determine to be believers whose integrity matches our ministry. May our words bring healing, our actions reflect love, and our character point others to Christ.

Prayer:

Father, make me a trustworthy steward of every heart You allow to cross my path. Help me guard the confidence of others with wisdom, love, and integrity. Teach me to use my words to heal, restore, and encourage rather than expose or harm. Let my life reflect the compassion of Christ, so that others find safety, grace, and hope in Your presence. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
